Greenwood Swimming’s Alex Tulacz Verbally Commits to Penn State

Alex Tulacz of Greenwood Swimming has made a verbal commitment to swim for Penn State Nittany Lions in the fall of 2015. Tulacz is a versatile talent who has qualified for Winter Juniors in the 200 breast. She was named to USA Swimming’s Scholastic All-America Team for 2013-14.

Tulacz had a nice short course season this past year, dropping at least two seconds in each of her top events: 100/200 back, 200 breast, and 200/400 IM.

At the 2014 NASA Junior National Championship Cup, Tulacz took fourth in the 200 breast, seventh in the 100 breast, ninth in the 50 breast, 11th in the 200 back, 14th in the 200 IM, and 15th in the 100 back and 100 IM. Best of all was a 16th place finish in the 100 free that meant dropping nearly 4 seconds off her seed time.

Her top times are:

200y back: 2:03.79
100y back: 58.00
200y breast: 2:19.62
100y breast: 1:06.45
50y breast: 31.15
200y IM: 2:07.15
400y IM: 4:36.72
100y free: 53.56

While Tulacz has made a good deal of progress over the last season or so, she is still a bit off scoring position for B1G Championships.

The Nittany Lions have been reeling in the commits on the men’s side, but so far only Tulacz and Katrina Kuhn have announced verbal intentions on the women’s side.
