Gregg Troy Talks About Caeleb Dressel’s Personality (Video Interview)

At a press conference in Gainesville on Thursday, Florida Head Coach Gregg Troy and American Record holder Caeleb Dressel addressed the media about the upcoming U.S. Olympic Trials. Troy describes Dressel, a 3 time NCAA champion and American Record holder in both the 50 and 100 freestyles, as a team player and a guy with many interests. He believes that focusing solely on swimming can start to get to you as an athlete, and describes the range of interests that Caeleb has when he isn’t at practice or around the pool. While he has a strong competitive drive, it’s always healthy competition, as Dressel gets along well with his teammates and others.

In the video, Troy also touches on Caeleb’s training right now. At this point in their season, Troy says Caeleb is swimming doubles for a total of 4 hours for 3 days of the week, and he trains 3 hours on days with single practices. In addition, he’s also doing weights 3 times a week and a couple of dryland sessions. Troy and Dressel will head to Omaha in June, where Dressel will look to earn his first ever Olympic bid.

He’s such a sweet, well grounded kid. Loves his family and his friends and doesn’t have a “greater than thou” mentality. Great leader too. Quirky, silly, and fun!! Christina and Mike, you’ve raised him (Tyler, Kaitlyn , and Sherridon also!) well!

I sense Dressel is gonna be very well prepared – I am looking forward to his 100 free – the biggest mystery in terms of what he can bring on in that race . 48.4 at trials i predict with a possibility to be around 48 flat in final .
