Trials Semifinalist Nick Thorne Wins 100 Fly on Day 3 of Gresham Sectionals

Results on Meet Mobile under ‘2016 Speedo Sectionals at Gresham’

On the third night of the 2016 Gresham Sectionals in Oregon, Christopher Nicholson racked up another event win in the men’s 400 free. Nicholson won the race in 4:02.57, followed by Aaron Sett (4:03.04) and Nathan Rock (4:05.33) to round out the podium.

One of the highlights on the women’s side came in the 100 fly, which saw the 1st and 2nd place swimmers both post times in the 1:01-range. Michelle Cefal was first to the wall in 1:01.34, followed by Kelly Huffer, who swam a 1:01.93 for the silver. Josie Valette also earned a medal-winning finish with her 1:02.35 for 3rd, just touvhing out 4th place finisher Heidi Bradley (1:02.38) at the finish.

The men’s version of the 100 fly was won by Olympic Trials semifinalist Nick Thorne from Arizona. Thorne swam to the wall in 54.84 to take the title. Closing out the podium places behind him were Colin Eaton and Reid Elliott, who swam times of 55.31 and 55.79, respectively.
