The Hamilton College men’s swimming and diving team captured their own invitational title on Saturday when the two-day, three-session event concluded at Hamilton’s Bristol Pool.

The Continentals topped the six-team field with 1,033 points, which was nearly 300 points more than runner-up SUNY Cortland racked up. SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Oswego, Buffalo State College and SUNY Potsdam rounded out the field.

Tripp Miller ’18 led Hamilton with wins in three individual events and helped the Continentals to first place in four relays. Miller set a pool record and just missed the school record by .13 seconds in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:05.82. He won the 100 breast in 58.27 seconds and the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:54.50. The 100 breast performance is good for third on the program’s top times list and he’s now third on the 200 IM top times list.

Miller joined Ben Cooper ’18, Evan Tatro ’20 and Scott Becker ’17 on the winning 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.63. The same quartet teamed up to win the 400 medley relay (3:36.69). Cooper took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.58 seconds and was runner-up in the 100 butterfly in 54.73 seconds and the 200 back (1:58.72).

Tatro posted triumphs in the 200 back (1:57.70) and the 100 fly with a time of 54.08 seconds. He was second in the 200 IM in 1:59.91.

Miller led off the victorious 800 freestyle relay that recorded a time of 7:11.67. Ryan Cassidy ’17, Jake Lowy ’19 and Case Tatro ’18 rounded out the relay. Cassidy won the 500 free (4:52.82) and was second in the 1,650 free (17:00.86). Case Tatro finished first in the 200 free (1:47.71) and was a close fourth in the 500 free (4:54.96).

Case Tatro led off the winning 400 free relay and was joined by Miller, Lowy and Becker as they posted a time of 3:14.86.

Julian Ziaggi ’17 landed in third place in the 3-meter springboard diving event with 228.10 points and was fourth on the 1-meter board with 235.60 points.

Trevor Pearson ’18 won the 400 IM (4:27.71) and ended up second in the 500 free (4:54.44). Luke Jeton ’17 was runner-up in the 200 fly (2:06.96) and the 100 free with 48.78 seconds.

Hamilton returns to the pool on Monday, Jan. 2 for a dual meet at Wesleyan University that is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
