DE PERE, Wis. – St. Norbert College has named Hannah Saiz its men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach, athletics director Tim Bald announced today.

Saiz arrives in De Pere after serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater, perennial NCAA Division III power Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. The Ladies finished national runner-up in 2018 and 2019, while the Lords placed third nationally those seasons. Kenyon had five women’s and three men’s national champions during those two seasons.

“We are very excited that Hannah Saiz is taking the reins of our men’s and women’s swimming and diving program,” Bald said. “Hannah’s own successful swimming career, followed by a positive career path into coaching combined with her own personal interest in the development of student-athletes, is a great package of skills that will benefit our student-athletes and program.”

The 2013 NCAA Division III national champion in the 200-yard butterfly, Saiz continued her post-collegiate swimming career at Schroeder YMCA in Milwaukee. Saiz finished eighth in 200 butterfly at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials and went on to win the 2016 U.S. Open championship in the event. A member of the 2016-17 United States National Team, Saiz was ranked in the top 50 in the world in 2015 and 2016 and was 67th in 2017.

“I am incredibly excited to be heading the St. Norbert College swimming and diving program,” Saiz said. “The small, liberal arts setting and the Norbertine values resonate with me. I look forward to developing student-athletes intent on growing as people and writing the story of the team. There is tremendous potential and I am eager to work with the team to continue developing a culture of excellence as we lay the foundation for a team legacy.”

Saiz’s coaching background includes two seasons as the head boys’ and girls’ swimming coach at Mount Vernon High School in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and the head coach of SERF Swimming – a community-based aquatics program based on the Kenyon campus.

Saiz, a Plattsburgh, N.Y., native, is a 2013 graduate of Kenyon with a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing.
