Hansen, Treloar nearing breaststroke sweeps at Victorian Open Sunday prelims

Prelims on the final day of the Victorian Open have wrapped up in Melbourne, Australia, with some mulit-event winners looking to add to their collections.

Jessica Hansen and Matthew Treloar were the top seeds in the women’s 50 breast and men’s 200 breast, respectively. The two will look to complete sweeps of the three breaststroking races in their respective genders Sunday night.

Hansen was 32.04 and leads by about half a second; Treloar went 2:20.23 and leads by almost one second.

Meanwhile Brittany Elmslie will look for another win after pacing the 200 free in 2:02.42. Elmslie won the 50 fly on day 1.

Most of the biggest names, including Cate Campbell, Bronte Campbell and James Magnussen, were absent on day 3, leaving the top qualifying spots to some younger swimmers.

19-year-old Luke Percy leads the 50 free, going a nice 22.67 in prelims. He was the only guy under 23 in the morning heats.

Finals pick up at 6pm Melbourne time Sunday night, or about 2am U.S. Eastern Time.
