Hansson Sets Multiple Records at Swedish Short Course Championships

Louise Hansson set senior and junior national records along with collecting four gold at the Swedish Short Course Championships.

Hansson, who will be attending USC next year, broke the senior national record in the women’s 200 IM winning the event in a time of 2:06.29 beating the mark of 2:08.17 which Sarah Sjostrom recorded in 2012. She then went on to set a junior national record in the women’s 100 IM taking the event in a time of 58.77.

Both are the world’s top ranked times.

Hansson also won the women’s 100 backstroke (58.17) and 200 freestyle (1:53.98).

Sarah Sjostrom was the only other women to set a senior national record leading off the 4 x 100 freestyle relay in a time of 51.24.

Sjostrom also won the women’s 50 (25.02) and 100 butterfly (56.13) and the 100 (51.44) and 400 freestyle (4:05.14).

Sophie Hansson set a new junior national record in the women’s 100 breaststroke putting up a time of 1:05.28. Her time places her second in the world rankings.

On the men’s side Erik Persson took down the Swedish record in the men’s 200 breaststroke posting a time of 2:06.46 which puts him atop the world rankings.

Adam Paulsson set new Swedish junior records in both the 400 freestyle (3:45.98) and 400 IM (4:09.37).
