Harrison Curley of Kenyon led from wall to wall in prelims to drop a record set last year by Michael Brus of Grinnell in the men’s 200 backstroke. Curley won the 400 IM in record setting fashion earlier in the meet. His final time was a 1:44.79, just .03 under Brus’ record of 1:44.81.
Curley sits almost a second ahead of the second fastest swimmer going into finals tonight, however it is probably safe to say it will take an NCAA record swim to win this evening’s final as well, with NCAA 100 back record holder Ben Lin in the mix.
