COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Wyoming sophomore Maria Harutjunjan has been named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while senior teammate Kari Campbell has earned MW Women’s Diver of the Week honors for competition ending January 10, 2016. It is the first weekly award for both student-athletes.
The next Mountain West Women’s Swimmer & Diver of the Week will be announced on Tuesday, January 19.
WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
MARIA HARUTJUNJAN, WYOMING
Sophomore, Maardu, Estonia / Audentes Sports High School
- Recorded Top-2 finishes in the breaststroke events as Wyoming lost at Denver 164-136 on January 9.
- Won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.16.
- Placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke. Her time was 2:17.45.
- Also swam the second leg of the 400-yard medley relay with a winning-team time of 3:43.88.
WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
KARI CAMPBELL, WYOMING
Senior, Laramie, Wyoming / Wisconsin
- Swept the diving competition in Wyoming’s 164-136 road loss at Denver on January 9.
- Won the 1-meter springboard with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 286.80.
- Took the title in the 3-meter springboard event with an NCAA Zone qualifying mark of 307.73.
- Both scores were her season-bests.
- Was the first time this season to win both events in the same meet.
