Harvard Picks Up Verbal Commitment from 6x UIL 6A Finalist Natalie Whalen

Southlake, Texas-native Natalie Whalen has verbally committed to the application process* at Harvard University. Athena Ye and Felicia Pasadyn have also committed to the Crimson for the fall of 2019.

Whalen is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American from Carroll Senior High School and Lakeside Aquatic Club. She is a versatile swimmer who swims free, fly, back, and IM. She has been an A finalist in all her events throughout three high school seasons thus far. At the 2018 Texas UIL 6A State Meet she placed 5th in the 200 IM (2:02.37) and 3rd in the 500 free (4:53.11), and contributed to the 3rd-place 200 medley relay (26.71) and runner-up 400 free relay (51.19 split). In club swimming she had a strong meet at 2018 Speedo Junior Nationals, earning PBs in the 200 free, 200 back, 100/200 fly, and 200/400 IM. She placed 7th in the 200 fly and 18th in the 400 IM.

Whalen’s top times would have scored at 2018 Ivy League Women’s Championships in the A finals of the 200/400 IM and 200 fly, the B finals of the 200 free and 200 back, and the C final of the 100 fly.

I wish the headlines just said the state and not the name of the high school swimming organization. People not from Texas have no clue what the UIL is.
