Hayden Bellotti, #12 in Class of 2023, Sends Verbal Commitment to Virginia

Hayden Bellotti from Sugar Land, Texas has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Virginia’s class of 2027. He will be the second member of his family to make the Texas-to-Virginia trek for college; his older brother went to Liberty.

Bellotti is a junior at Clements High School. He does his year-round swimming with First Colony Swim Team and specializes in the 100-to-500 freestyle range, fly, and back. He is the #12 recruit on our Way Too Early List of top-20 boys from the high school class of 2023.

Bellotti had a big meet last March at the FCST Spring Championships, winning the 50/100/200/500 free, 100/200 back, and 100 fly and picking up new PBs in the 50/100/500 free, 50/100/200 back, and 100 fly. This summer, he competed at Speedo Summer Championships-West and landed all new times in the LCM 50 free (24.34), 100 free (52.46), 200 free (1:53.88), 400 free (4:05.09), 100 back (1:02.04), and 100 fly (56.57). He placed 24th in the 200 free and 23rd in the 400 free.

Bellotti is just outside scoring range for the Cavaliers at the conference level. It took 19.87/43.81/1:36.88/4:23.03 in the freestyles, 46.85/1:46.94 in butterfly, and 47.50 in the 100 back to score at 2021 ACC Championships. He also has the potential to have a big impact on relays.
