Über die 200 m Lagen belegt Philip Heintz den 7. Platz in 1:57,43 Minuten. Heintz hatte das Weltranking vor diesen Weltmeisterschaften in 1:55,76 Minuten angeführt.

Es siegt der Amerikaner Chase Kalisz in 1:55,56 vor Kosuke Hagino (Japan)  in 1:56,01 und Shen Wang (China) in 1:56,28 Minuten.
