Hemmens Garners WAC Swimmer of the Week Nods

LAS VEGAS – UNLV junior Hayden Hemmens received Men’s Swimmer of the Week from the Western Athletic Conference, it was announced Christmas morning by the league office.

Hemmens, a Newport Beach, California native, picked up WAC weekly honors for the first time this season after a phenomenal dual meet against CSU Bakersfield. Hemmens swept all three individual freestyle events and anchored a relay win as well. He notched a 1:38.44 in the 200 freestyle and a 4:38.75 in the 500 freestyle, which ranks him sixth best in the WAC for both events. He also won the 100 freestyle (45.54) and helped the 400 freestyle relay to a first-place finish in the time of 3:05.48.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: The Rebel women will be back in action when they hit the road for a dual meet at UNR January 15 at 4 pm.
