The nation of Belgium has revealed its 7-strong roster for the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan this summer.

The lineup includes 2 men and 5 women with the nation heading into Fukuoka after a season of record-breaking performances.

We reported how 18-year-old Roos Vanotterdijk did major damage across multiple events this past February, putting up new Belgian standards in the following events at the Flemish Championships:

  • 50m free -25.17
  • 100m free – 54.51
  • 50m back – 27.97
  • 100m back – 59.62
  • 100m fly – 57.82

Later on this spring, Valentine Dumont joined the record-breaking party, setting a new mark of 1:57.91 in the women’s 200m free while competing at the Spanish Championships.

Alisee Pisane also established a new Belgian Record in the women’s 1500m free (16:22.18) while racing at this year’s Edinburgh International Swim Meet.

Finally, Florine Gaspard clocked a time of 30.53 to set a new 50m breast standard at the Belgian Championships this month.

On the men’s side, Lucas Henveaux crushed new records in the 200m and 400m free this month. He produced lifetime bests of 1:46.31 and 3:46.59, respectively, while Noah De Shryver earned a new Belgian Record of 2:10.83 in the 200m breast.

Belgium entered just 4 swimmers at the 2022 World Championships with the highest-placed finisher represented by Fleur Vermeiren‘s 15th-place result in the women’s 50m breaststroke.
