After heavy winds played a large factor on day 1 of the TYR Pro Series in Mesa, they are expected to continue on Friday.
With winds high all day, peaking at over 24 miles per hour during finals, it was clearly a factor for the swimmers. Friday shouldn’t be as bad as Thursday, but it will still be windy. Winds are projected to be around 12-14 miles per hour during prelims, getting up to over 19 during finals.
However, the wind is expected to subside over the weekend, projected to be around 8 miles per hour for both sessions on Saturday, and just 3-5 miles per hour on Sunday. However, Sunday is expected to be the hottest (with a high of 91 Fahrenheit).
Check out a full recap of tonight’s finals session here.
If the wind speed gets over 30mph it’s because of the DeSorbo Effect.
Sjöström should taper for this meet one year just to break her 50 Fly WR again
