WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s swimming and diving team earned a 170-130 win against Sacred Heart during Senior Day in the Hart Center Pool.

The Crusaders move to 3-5 with the win and the Pioneers slide to 1-6-1 with the defeat.

Freshman Devin Brindle had three first place showings in the 50-yard freestyle (25.04) the 100-yard freestyle (53.37) and the 100-yard butterfly (58.72).

Freshman Courtney Boghosian and junior Ginger Berry went 1-2 in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.65) as well as sophomore Sabrina Conrad (2:31.75) and Emily Yu (2:32.63) in the 20-yard breaststroke.

Sophomore Ainsley Nalen picked up a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.31).

Senior Greta Walting placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.54).

Freshman Kat Anticev finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:01.88).

The 200-yard medley relay team (Boghosian, Walting, Conrad, Nalen, 1:50.77) and the 400-yard freestyle relay squad (Brindle, senior Ayden Chanin, sophomore Nora Smillie, Nalen, 3:38.72) both hit the wall first in their respective events.

Holy Cross will compete next in the Patriot League Championships from Wednesday, Feb. 21 until Saturday, Feb. 21 in Annapolis, Md.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women’s swim and dive team dropped a tightly-contested meet to Holy Cross on Sunday, falling 170-130.

For the second consecutive week in a row, Olivia McNicholas broke the SHU school record in the one-meter board with a score of 252.30. She also won the three-meter board with an impressive 253.60.

Sophia Velleco paced the Pioneers in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle winning with times of 1:56.91 and 5:13.11, respectively. She also tabbed a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.19.

Sacred Heart went one and two in the 400-yard individual medley. Melanie Sanchez led the way with a time of 4:46.44. Right behind her was Emma Chambers with a time of 4:48.57.

Sanchez also paced the team in the 200-yard butterfly winning with a time of 2:12.10. Right behind her in second was Abby Hernandez with a time of 2:13.47.

Rosemery Nieto placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.78.

Up Next:
The Pioneers head to Merrimack for their final conference dual meet on Feb. 3 at 2:30 p.m. before heading to the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship.
