WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Greta Walting won three individual events to lead the Holy Cross women’s swimming and diving team to a 165-135 victory over Fairfield at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders improve to 1-2 on the season with the win, while the Stags fall to 1-1 overall.

Walting claimed first place in the 50-yard freestyle (25.07), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.44) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.31). Holy Cross had several other first-place finishes on the evening, including sophomore Katelyn Cerulli in the three-meter diving (237.07), sophomore Ayden Chanin in the 100-yard freestyle (53.76), freshman Adelle Feeley in the one-meter diving (219.22), junior Nicoletta Kalavantis in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.64) and junior Anna Turner in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:57.94). The Crusaders were also victorious in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.16) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:02.60).

Holy Cross will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 13, when it plays host to Maine at 1:00 p.m.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Ed Hunt and Alex Belfer picked up two first-place finishes to help the Fairfield University men’s swimming and diving team collect a 181-119 win over the College of the Holy Cross on Friday night. Erini Pappas earned three top finishes for the women’s swimming and diving team as the Stags fell to the Crusaders by a 165-135 score.

Hunt touched the wall first in the 500 free with his time of 4:46.64 and added another top time in the 200 IM (1:58.82). Belfer swept the 50 free by finishing the race in 21.25 and followed with the first-place run in the 100 free (47.23).

The men’s team scored firsts in both diving events with Dillion O’Connor registering 264.67 points in the 3-meter event and Lukas Stanton recording 226.57 points in the 1-meter dive. The win was O’Connor’s second of the season after placing in the Fairfield Invitational.

Three other Fairfield men’s swimmers took home first-place finishes, starting with Joey Nizzardo in the 1000 free, completing the event in 10:04.39. Joseph Stewart enjoyed success in the 200 free, setting the pace in 1:43.47. Evan Fair took the top spot in the 100 fly with a time of 52.93.

The men’s 200 free relay also secured first place in the event behind the efforts of Fair, Belfer, Stewart, and Peter Gori. The team combined for a time of 1:26.66.

Pappas earned first-place finishes in the 100 back (58.73), the 200 back (2:06.21), and the 200 IM (2:10.05) to highlight the women’s meet. Sydney Scalise was also a multiple winner courtesy of her performance in the 200 free (1:56.11) and the 500 free (5:20.43).

Maggie O’Donnell also earned a top finish in the 100 fly, completing the course with a time of 59.98.

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will return to action on Saturday, October 30 when they host Providence College
