Hong Kong’s Xintong Wang Commits to Northwestern (2026)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Distance freestyle and IM specialist Xintong Wang has committed to swim for Northwestern University in the fall of 2026. Wang currently resides in Hong Kong and has represented Hong Kong internationally.

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northwestern University! Thank you so much to my family, friends, and coaches who have all helped throughout this process. I also want to thank all the coaches at Northwestern for giving me this opportunity. GO ‘CATS🐈 💜”

Wang secured several lifetime bests at the 2024 Hong Kong Age Group Short Course Swimming Championships (SCM) in February. Her lifetime bests at the meet included the 200 IM (2:14.36), 400 IM (4:42.99), 400 free (4:14.38), 800 free (8:41.88), and 1500 free (16:40.93).

Wang posted her best time in the 200 free (2:00.06) at the 2023-24 Div. I Age Group Short Course Swimming Competition (Part 1) in December 2023, which was also held in Hong Kong.

Earlier that year, in July 2023, Wang competed at the Speedo Sectionals in Fullerton, California (LCM), representing San Dimas Aquatics. She placed 5th in the 400 free (4:26.65) and 6th in the 200 fly (2:21.92). Her time in the 400 free qualified her for the Swimming Futures Championship in Sacramento. She also swam in the finals of the 200 free (2:07.89), placing 12th.

Events Short Course Meter Times Converted Yard Times
200 Free 2:00.06 1:48.16
400/500 Free 4:14.38 4:50.71
800/1000 Free 8:41.88 9:56.43
1500/1650 Free 16:40.93 16:34.96
200 IM 2:14.36 2:01.04
400 IM 4:42.99 4:14.94

Northwestern placed 9th at the 2025 Women’s Ben Ten Conference Championships, a drop from the previous year when they ranked 7th overall. Wang has the potential to make a big impact upon her arrival, particularly in distance and IM events. Last season, her converted time for the 1000 free and 400 IM would have ranked 1st for Northwestern, while her converted times for the 500 free and 200 IM would have ranked 2nd.

Wang will be joining Iris Kim, Sophia Oka-Fedder, Aya Ferguson, and Bella Teply as part of Northwestern’s 2026 recruiting class. Kim also holds strong times in the 500 free (4:47.35), 1000 free (9:57.41), 200 IM (2:03.43), and 400 IM (4:17.39). Oka-Fedder has a time of 2:03.33 in the 200 IM, while Teply has a time of 2:03.89.
