Horne, Hicks, Puskar-Beckett, & Chen Give Verbals To Air Force Women

The Air Force women have picked up a cluster of commitments, with Rheagan Horne, Morgan Hicks, Allie Puskar-Beckett, and Winnie Chen all announcing their intentions to join the team next fall.

All 4 swimmers will bring depth to the team in the sprint freestyles, where they each have a time in the 24.2-range. At USAFA, they’ll team up with Elise Hart, who scored at the 2016 Mountain West Championships in the 50 freestyle.

Morgan Hicks

Hicks, a swimmer for the Cardinal Community Swim Club, attends Yorktown High School in Indiana. Her versatility gives the coaches the option to use her in a range of events, including the 100s of each stroke and the 50 free.

Last season, Hicks swam her way to a top-16 finish in both the 50 free and 100 breast at the 2016 Indiana Girls State Championships. At the Indiana Girls Sectional Championships, she clocked new best times in the 50 free (24.26), 100 fly (57.40), and 100 breast (1:04.90).

Rheagan Horne

Horne is a sprinter from Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she competes for the Regency Park Swim Team. She’ll be making the move to Air Force next fall after graduating from Riverbend High School.

Last season at the Virginia 6A State High School League meet, Horne earned a spot in the championship final of the 50 free. She finished in 7th place overall, clocking a new best time of 24.25. Horne then went on to the NCSA Spring Championships, where she competed in the sprint freestyles, sprint breaststrokes, and 50 back.

Allie Puskar-Beckett

Puskar-Beckett currently attends West Potomac High School, and competes with Nation’s Capital Swim Club in the club season. Her best events are the sprint free, back, and fly races.

Last season, Puskar-Beckett became a Virginia 6A State High School League champion as a part of West Potomac’s 200 medley relay. She swam the backstroke leg for the team, posting a 27.84 split. She also swam to a 9th place finish in the 100 free and an 11th place finish in the 100 back at that meet.

Winnie Chen

Chen is a club swimmer for Rancho San Dieguito in Solano Beach, California, and will join the team at Air Force after graduating from San Pasqual High School. She’s primarily a sprint freestyler, but shows promise in the 100 breast as well.

Last season, Chen placed in the top 5 in the 50 free and 100 breast at the 2016 CIF San Diego Section Championships. There, she posted new best times of 24.23 and 1:05.82 in those events respectively.
