Going into the final night of Hungarian Short Course Nationals, Katinka Hosszu had but one blemish on her tear through every event, an opening night defeat in the 800 free by Boglarka Kapas. Hosszu avenged that defeat with a wall-to-wall throttling of Kapas in the 400 free, just one of her five victories as the meet wrapped up in Szazhalombatta. As with many of Hosszu’s other wins, the time of 4:00.23 put her on top of the early short course season rankings:

Hosszu would also win the 50 fly (26.20), the 400 IM (A world best 4:29.47), 100 backstroke (59.75) and 200 butterfly (2:07.76). The best second place performance came from Zsuzsanna Jakabos, who put up the second best time in the world in the 400 medley (4:31.33).
On the men’s side, Gabor Balog notched his second win with the 50 backstroke (24.76). Peter Bernek overcame an early challenge from Dominik Kozma to win the 200 free handily (1:45.00). Laszlo Cseh was noticably absent, as David Verraszto and Bernek went 1-2 in the 400 IM (4:05.11, 4:07.07), and Tamas Kenderesi won the 100 fly (52.50) well back of Cseh’s national record. Despite Cseh’s absence, Verraszto’s 400 IM was still a world best:
