- Long Course Meters
- Meet Central
- Psych Sheets
The 2023 Canadian Trials begin on March 28, 2023, at 9:30 am EST and will run until April 2. The six-day meet will be used to select Canada’s teams for the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka and the 2023 World Para Championships in Manchester later this year.
Prelims will begin every day at 9:30 am EST and will take between 1.5 – 3 hours, depending on the lineup. Finals will start at 6 pm EST daily. The event lineup can be found at this link.
The majority of Canada’s biggest stars will be in attendance at the meet, including Summer McIntosh, Kylie Masse, Josh Liendo, Maggie MacNeil, Taylor Ruck, Finlay Knox, and many more. To qualify automatically for Fukuoka 2023, swimmers will need to swim under the FINA A cut in their event and place within the top two. If they are in the top two but don’t hit the FINA A, they can still be selected but will be given lower priority. Additionally, the top 3rd and 4th place swimmers in the women’s 4×100 and 4×200 freestyles and the men’s 4×100 freestyle will qualify. You can read the full selection criteria here.
CBC will be live-streaming the entire meet, both prelims, and finals. You can find those live streams here:

I don’t know how anybody is awake at 9:30
Other than Penny O. is there any other big star missing (including retirements since last summer)?
Kayla Sanchez
Not ‘big stars’ but important members of the team are missing:
Yuri Kisil
Markus Thormeyer also missing despite his ban ending
Does anyone know why Kisil is missing or if he’ll be back for Paris?
Ruck announced today she’s decided not to attend
Taylor Ruck just confirmed that she’s not swimming at the trials and taking a short break from swimming
Stephanie’s prediction that Summer will win three relay medals is not looking so good rn.
Yah. I’d think the goal for canada if Penny O and Taylor Ruck are not at worlds this year is just get the relays qualified for the Olympics. Although just reading the Qualification criteria 7 it’s seem there is flexibility to add swimmers at the discretion of the high performance director. So perhaps if Penny O is recovered from her injury she might be at worlds.
If the relays fields were as deep as the men’s they’d be in trouble but they’re not so even without Ruck and Oleksiak Canada should be able to manage to qualify relays for Paris.
It looks like Taylor will be joining the team for the camp in Mallorca ahead of the Mare Nostrum tour. Just needs a break from what has been a busy schedule. So looks like she will be hopefully be competing at the WC.
wow liendo is going to have a rough week. not necessarily bad but definitely exhausting
The one consolation is that he won’t have to swim nearly as hard to make finals as he did at NCs.
