Hungary has announced their current roster for the 2017 World Championships following the conclusion of their national championships. This is not the finalized roster, as there are some events in which another swimmer can qualify by meeting the FINA A standard.
In some cases, one of the qualified swimmers may opt out of an event, so a 3rd person has been listed as an alternate. For example, Katinka Hosszu is unlikely to compete in the 100 free at Worlds, so Evelyn Verraszto has been listed as the alternate.
Notably, junior standout Nandor Nemeth has opted out of the individual 100 free. Instead, he’ll focus on his medal chances at the Junior World Championships.

I was under impression that Hungarian National Championships was successful. But when an IMer who doesn’t have impressive ranking this season in any solo events is named in 11 of 17 individual events I have the second thoughts about how deep Hungarian team actually is.
It’s an impressive collection of swimmers especially considering their population is about the same as New Jersey.
Who said that Hungary is the country without great traditions and success in aqua sports?
I wish it had as many people as two New Jerseys then we will have another Australia like super swimming power.
This stupid New Jersey doesn’t really know what to do with its population.
i think they could ‘ride’ on their times from the last year and didn’t have to perform at Nationals. Not positive but that is what i gathered.
