Huskies to Compete in Tri-Meet with Penn State and Princeton

STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams return to action for a tri-meet against Penn State and Princeton. The two-day event kicks off on Friday in State College, Pa. at 5 p.m. Saturday’s events will be held in two sessions with the first beginning at 9 a.m.

After a week-long hiatus, the men’s and women’s swimming teams will get back in the water at the meet hosted by PSU. Both teams have not seen action since Halloween, when they competed in a dual non-scoring meet against Brown.

Last weekend, the Huskies men’s and women’s diving teams hosted UMass at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium in Storrs. For the women, senior Taryn Urbanus (Quincy, Mass.) earned first-place finishes in two events. She won the one-meter event with a score of 269.70 while junior Amanda Craig (Woodbridge, Conn.) checked in second with 254.00. Urbanus was also first in the three-meter event after she tallied 261.68 points.

On the men’s side, sophomore Daniel Kinney (Middletown, Conn.) finished first in the one-meter with 295.95 points, followed by senior John Brice (Bala Cynwood, Pa.) in second (281.39). The Huskies swept the competition on the three-meter platform. Kinney once again paced the team with a score of 258.16 as Brice and sophomore Jeffrey Aselin (Riverside, Conn.) rounded out the top-three.
