According to the International Ice Swimming Association, here are a few of the tips they suggest for participating:
#1 – Always bring a friend.
#2 – Make sure your muscles are warm before getting in to race.
#3 – Keep your head, hands and feet bundled up when you’re out of the water.
#4 – (a caution) If you have heart disease or suffer from either low or high blood pressure you should first consult a doctor about the risks of winter swimming.
