Idaho Swim & Dive Announces 10 Signees To 2023 Class

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho swimming and diving program is excited to announce the addition of 10 new Vandals to Moscow. The 10 newcomers include three swimmers from Oregon and Canada, and one each from Alaska, Nebraska, Texas and Wisconsin.

“We are extremely excited about this class of incoming Vandals,” Idaho Head Coach Dr. Mark Sowa said. “They are all very talented, versatile, and have tremendous upside. However, what we are most excited about is the quality of the person that will be joining us. The strength of character of this group will add decidedly to what we believe is already a very healthy and uplifting culture. It is a great day to be a Vandal.”

Isabelle Borke
From Anchorage, Alaska, Isabelle Borke becomes a Vandal after competing for the Aurora Club team and four seasons at Diamond High School. During her prep career, Borke helped lead her teams to four state championships and three regional titles. She posted two individual state championship finishes in the 50 freestyle (2020, 2022) and holds four school records – 100 breast, 200 Medley relay, 400 Free relay record and 200 free relay record. Outside of swimming, Borke also competed in cross-country skiing in high school.

Natalie Charles
A product of Middleton, Wis., Natalie Charles is a Verona Area Club swimmer that competes in the breaststroke and individual medley. Charles, swimming at Middleton High School, was a four-year varsity letter winner and two-year team captain. In her junior year, she swam her way to a 100 breaststroke and 200 IM Sectional Championship. Charles was a key cog in leading Middleton to two conference championships and two sectional titles in 2021 and 2022.

Katy Foley
From Omaha, Nebr., Katy Foley will make an impact in the program and provide versatility in the backstroke and freestyle events. As a four-year varsity letter winner at Omaha Marian High School, she was a part of two Nebraska State Championships in her freshman and sophomore years and a runner-up finish in her junior season. She also swam for the Greater Omaha Aquatics Club team.

Sydney Heasman
From Calgary, Canada, Sydney Heasman joins the Vandals after competing at Central Memorial High School. She adds experience in freestyle, butterfly and backstroke events. Outside of competition at Central Memorial, Heasman swam for the Glencoe Gators Club team.

Catherine Hyde
A Silverton, Oregon native, Catherine Hyde joins the Vandals after swimming for four years at Silverton High School. She competed in the backstroke, freestyle and butterfly, earning all-conference awards in 2020 and 2022. A decorated swimmer at Silverton, Hyde left as a record holder in four events – 200 free, 100 back, 200 IM and 100 fly. Outside of swimming, Hyde also competed for two seasons on the varsity track and field team.

Abbie Jerome
Abbie Jerome makes her way from Kelowna, Canada to join the Vandals in the fall of 2023. During her prep career, she swam at the Okanagan Mission Secondary School and for the Kelowna AquaJets. She competed as a two-sport athlete in swim and cross country.

Avery Keinonen 
From Canby, Oregon, Avery Keinonen comes to the Palouse after being a four-year varsity letter winner at Canby High School. During her high school career, Keinonen was a three-year All-Conference selection, competing in freestyle, butterfly and individual medley. She helped Canby qualify for two state swim meets in 2020 and 2022, while also earning a district championship.

Ginger Kiefer
From Bend, Oregon, Ginger Kiefer becomes a Vandal after four seasons at Summit High School. A mid-distance swimmer, Kiefer was a two-time district winner and a top-five state finisher. Outside of competing at Summit, she swam for the Bend Swim Club.

Ava Langston
A Rockwall, Texas native, Ava Langston is a distance freestyler that will join the Vandals after four seasons of varsity action at Rockwall High School. Competing at the 6A high school level, Langston is a three-time regional participant and state qualifier. She also competes for the Rockwall Aquatic Center of Excellence Team.

Gracie Maryschak
From Langley in Canada, Gracie Maryschak swam for Walnut Grove Secondary School and Surrey Knights Swim Club. Her prep career included being a team captain for two years (2021-2023) and earning two Provincial Championships in the winter and the summer. Maryschak also competed for two seasons on the women’s volleyball team.
