Josh Brown, a SwimSwam contributor, and his identical twin Jake Brown, have both verbally committed to swim for St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, New York in the fall.
“We chose Saint Bonaventure because of the success they have had in the Atlantic 10 conference, the relationship the guys on the team have with each other and with Coach Mac. The team atmosphere is very competitive and you can tell they are there to win. We love the campus and the academic opportunities the school provides for us. We are excited to be a Bonnie!”
Josh and Jake swim for Talbot County YMCA in Easton, Maryland under head coach George Higley and assistant coach Dan Brown. Coach Brown, who is the twins’ father, played water polo at Bucknell University. The Browns also swim for Queen Anne’s High School under head coach Margaret Macedonia. At the 2015 Maryland 3A2A1A State Championships, the brothers helped Queen Anne’s to a ninth-place team finish, with Josh winning the state title in the 50 free (22.06) and placing third in the 100 breast (1:02.20), and Jake taking third in the 200 IM (2:00.42) and second in the 100 fly (53.15). They also swam back and breast on the medley relay.
Jake and Josh have made stunning improvements across the board over the past year, as shown below:

Jake Brown:

As they continue to develop throughout their senior year of high school and into their first year as Bonnies, the Brown brothers should provide firepower at Atlantic-10 championships, where St. Bonaventure is seeking to take over from UMass at the top of the rankings. Jake and Josh are part of a solid recruiting class for the Bonnies, that also includes verbal commits Nick Burdo and Seth Erdley.
