The Greater Spartanburg YMCA wrapped up YMCA Summer Nationals by taking the combined and boy’s titles while the Greater Somerset YMCA claimed the girl’s.
17-year-old Erica Maltsev knocked 6 seconds off of her PB in the 400 IM, winning in a time of 4:53.72 to lead 3 victories for the Greater Somerset YMCA.
Despite being one of the youngest swimmers at the meet, 13-year-old Cullen Cashman finished 13th in the 200 breast with a new New England Record of 2:24.58.
Eckler dropped over a second and a half in his win and was just off of what would have been the US Trials cut if it were a few months ago.
Both Moesch and Thompson’s swims on the final night would have made finals at NCAAs two weeks ago. Moesch broke her own Y-Nat record.
Moesch is now just off of what it took to make the NCAA A final a few weeks ago in the 50 free and will head to Virginia this fall.
Thompson had a 1-2 finish with fellow Stanford commit Alana Berlin in the 100 fly. Berlin also split a 22.97 50 fly in the 200 medley relay.
Virginia commit Anna Moesch split a 1:44.32 in the 800 free relay with a flying start to help Greater Somerset County to a win on night 1 in Greensboro.
