Illinois High School State Champion Olivia Moore to Swim for Iowa State Next Season (2025)

Olivia Moore, a two-time Illinois state champion, sent her verbal commitment to Iowa State University and is set to compete for the Cyclones beginning in the fall of 2025.

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Iowa State University! I am grateful to God, my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for supporting me throughout this journey. I want to thank Coach Matt and Coach Morgan for giving me this incredible opportunity and cannot wait to join the ISU Swim & Dive family. GO CYCLONES!”

Moore is wrapping up her senior year at Rosary High School, where she has been a member of the varsity swim team all four years. A versatile competitor, she currently trains year-round with the Academy Bullets Swim Club and excels at breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.

At the IHSA Girls State Championship back in November, Moore helped her team to a victory in the 200 free relay, splitting a 23.41 as the anchor leg to secure the win. She also posted season-best times in the 50 free (24.08) and 100 free (52.54). Moore posted several of her top times at the 2023 iteration of the meet, including in the 50 free (23.57), 100 free (51.67) and 100 breast (1:02.85).

Moore has raced at a number of high-level competitions, including the NCSA spring and summer championships, the Pro Swim Series and Speedo Sectionals. At the 2024 NCSA Summer Championships (LCM), she placed 27th in the 50 breast (34.52), 39th in the 50 fly (29.22), 61st in the 100 breast (1:17.25) and 69th in the 200 breast (2:50.25).

Best Times (SCY)

  • 50 free – 23.57
  • 100 free – 51.67
  • 100 breast – 1:02.85
  • 200 breast – 2:20.27
  • 100 fly – 57.13
  • 200 fly – 2:13.56

Led by head coach Matt Leach, Iowa State is a Division I program that competes in the Big 12 Conference. Just last weekend, the Cyclones finished 10th out of 10 teams at the 2025 Big 12 Conference Championships. To make it back for finals, it took times of 23.17/50.48 in the 50/100 free, 1:02.41/2:15.67 in the 100/200 breast and 55.09/2:02.76 in the 100/200 fly, putting Moore outside the cutoff in her top events.

On the team itself, Moore would have ranked 3rd in the 50 and 100 free, 4th in the 100 and 200 breast and 5th in the 100 and 200 fly this past season. However, with a number of Iowa’s top swimmers graduating in May, Moore is poised to move up the rankings and be one of the team’s top contributors for the 2025-2026 season.

Currently set to join Moore in the pool in the fall are Hayden Bailey, Tessa Moore, Brooke Gill, Andra Robertson, Evelyn Mulvihill, Kendall Schindler and Kendall Mallers, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
