Illinois State Adds Seven for 2019-20 Season

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving program has added to its 2019-20 roster, as head swimming coach Scott Cameron announced the addition of six swimmers and one diver on Wednesday.

“We are very excited about the addition of each one of these athlete,” Cameron shared. “There is a lot of versatility in this group, and they should all be able to come in and contribute right away. They also have a great mix of personalities and will fit right into the culture that we have and are continuing to build. We are looking forward to having these girls join the Redbird family in the fall.”

All seven players will be eligible for competition in the 2019-20 season. The recruiting class is listed alphabetically:

Kamryn Blake | Indianapolis, Ind. | Cardinal Ritter HS

Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann on Blake: “I am very excited to add Kamryn to our diving team. She comes from a very high level club program, and she’s got exceptional skills and is a fantastic student. She will make a great addition to our program for the next four years as a Redbird!”

Maddie Hernandez | Wildwood, Mo. | St. Joseph’s Academy

Cameron on Hernandez: “Maddie is a very talented sprinter, who has a lot of potential still ahead of her. We are excited to be able to work with her, and see her make some great improvements in the near future. She will be a great Redbird!”

Emily Keebler | Verona, Wis. | Middleton HS

Cameron on Keebler: “Emily is a strong IM performer that just keeps on getting better. She has a great work ethic and has a lot of upside to her. We are excited to work with her and see just how far she can go. We are excited to have her as a Redbird!”

Makenna Licking | Cross Plains, Wis. | Middleton HS

Cameron on Licking: “We are very excited to add Makenna to our team. She will add right award to our MD freestyle group, and will be able to make an impact right away with our team and within the conference. We are very excited to see how far she can go as a Redbird!”

Madyson Morse | Pearland, Texas | Pearland HS

Cameron on Morse: “Madyson comes in as a breaststroker and IM performer, and is a very versatile athlete. We are excited to add her to a very strong group that we already have, and I am looking forward to seeing her continue to get better as a Redbird!”

Lauren Naeger | Hallsville, Mo. | Battle HS

Cameron on Naeger: “Lauren is a versatile swimmer that can swim fly and distance free. She has a great work ethic and will fit in with our team from the beginning. She will be able to contribute to the strong fly group that we have, and I am excited to see her improve as a Redbird!”

Isabel Veliz | Chicago, Ill. | St. Ignatius College Prep

Cameron on Veliz: “Isabel is another versatile swimmer, as she can swim both fly and backstroke events. She has a lot of upside, and we are very excited to work with her next season. It will be great having her as a Redbird!”
