We’ll get into a full rundown next week, but the Charlotte Ultra-Swim has released it’s preliminary psych sheets for the Grand Prix that will take place May 12th-15th.
See the Psych Sheets, subject to revision, here.
Briefly, swimmers confirmed to attend are the vast majority of the US National Team, including series leader Missy Franklin, who has been absent at the past few Grand Prixs. The big draws will be, as usual, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, but other stars like Rebecca Soni, Jessica Hardy, Chloe Sutton, Kara Lynn Joyce, Matt Grevers, and Nick Thoman will be there. There will also be a fair number of college stars there, including Indiana’s Eric Ress (the 2010 French 200 back National Champ), Scot Robison, Ryan Harrison, Allison Schmitt, and Nimrod Shapira. International stars like Dominik Meichtry from Switzerland will also be in attendance.
There will be a ton of great high school swimmers as well, including 15-year old Ryan Murphy (holder of 4 USA Swimming NAG Records) and Lauren Driscoll, who was the 2010 Jr. Pan Pac Champion in the 800 free. David Nolan won’t be in attendance (though his sister Katie, who swims for North Carolina, will be).
Basically, almost anybody at any level who is training in the United States is likely to be at this meet. The list of American-trained superstars who WON’T be at the meet is much easier to disseminate. After leafing through the psych sheet, two that are notably absent are Tyler Clary and Ous Mellouli.
Check back next week as we’ll break down the big story lines of the meet.
