Hosszu wins five of six on the second night of competition at the Indian Ocean International

On the second night of competition at the Indian Ocean International Hungarian Katinka Hosszu finished the same way she did the first, five wins in six events.

In her those wins Hosszu dominated her competition winning the 100 IM in a time of 59.96 just over three seconds ahead of Dutch star Inge Dekker, in the 400 freestyle she posted a time of 4:10.74 four seconds ahead of the next competitor, in the 50 breaststroke she won in a time of 32.84 almost a full second ahead of the next athlete, she than won the 100 backstroke by over two seconds in a time of 1:00.44 and finished the night by destroying the field in the 200 butterfly winning by nine seconds in a time of 2:09.85.

The women’s 50 freestyle was a different story. In what was the highlight of the second night of competition the event saw a weight battle between Britten Steffen, Inge Dekker and Katinka Hosszu. Steffen, who was the only woman to beat Hosszu on the first night, took the race in a convincing posting a time of 24.21 with Dekker finishing second in a time of 25.12 followed by Hosszu who touched in a time of 25.40.

On the men’s side World Champion Paul Biedermann of Germany won the 400 freestyle in a time of 3:47.37.

Camille Lacourt of France who in his return to the pool won the 50 backstroke on the first night took the 100 backstroke in a time of 53.55.

In the 100 IM Frenchman Florent Hassambay won his third event of the competition posting a time of 58.51.

Other winners on the evening included:

Men’s 50 breaststroke – Maxime Bussiere (FRA) – 28.45

Men’s 50 freestyle – Philippe Arginthe (FRA) – 23.73

Men’s 200 butterfly – Mathieu Bachmann (FRA) – 2:09.07
