Indian River Sweeps All 5 Events On Day 1 Of 2015 NJCAA Championships

The first day of the 2015 NJCAA Championships featured the 400 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay for both the men and the women. The men also competed on the 3m springboard as well.

Indian River extended an early lead, winning both relays on the men’s and women’s side. Both men’s relays also broke the previous NJCAA records with their swims.

In the 400 Medley Relay, the team of Tayla Lovemore, Christina Loh, Barbara Caraballo, and Leah Sims combined to win with their time of 3:45.36. They finished almost 25 yards ahead of Monroe Community College. They reached in for second with a time of 4:02.00, holding off Iowa Lakes Community College at 4:03.24.

The team of Stefan Stojmenovic, Craig Emslie, Shota Nakano, and Adam Wise broke the NJCAA Record in the men’s 400 medley relay at 2:12.03. The next closest team was Iowa Lakes at 3:26.57. Darton St College finished third at 3:28.13.

In the men’s 3m diving, Zach Duval lead a 1-2-3 sweep for Indian River with 532.10 points. His teammates, David Zarb and Robert Morgan, finished second and third at 481.2 and 468.15, respectively.

Up next was the women’s 800 freestyle relay where Indian River’s Hannah Lynch, Rebecca Halfast, Olivia Jacobi, and Sarah Neely posted a winning time of 7:40.89. They were the only team with all four swimmers under 2 minutes. Monroe Community finished second with their time of 7:55.66, and South Georgia St finished third at 8:04.87.

The Indian River won the final event of the night, the 800 freestyle relay, as the only team under 7 minutes. The relay of Stefan Stojmenovic, Craig Emslie, Quinn Poti, and Adam Wise broke the NJCAA record from 2008 with their time of 6:31.90. Monroe Community was the next closest team with their time of 7:01.29, and Iowa Lakes finished third at 7:03.64.

They need to get all junior colleges in the USA to be on the same schedule to make this legit. All California JC’s are just starting their season

Wow! 2:12 400 medley!?! That must have been fun to watch. What did the breastroker split? 38 or something?
