Indiana State Set For Final Home Meet Of The Season

Sycamore swimming and diving will host their final home meet of the season on Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. inside the Vigo County Aquatic Center while also honoring their lone senior, Laura Fulton.

Indiana State enters this meet coming off a strong second place finish during the first ever Indiana State Relays which took place on Dec. 2.

Despite the majority of the squad battling illness, multiple Sycamores stepped up and provided standout performances.

Kendall Hansen, Emily Boomershine and Marlene Pavlu Lewin provided the first Sycamore win in the 3×100 backstroke relay with a time of 2:53.92.

After this opening victory the Sycamores continued to rattle off first and second place finishes throughout the remainder of the meet.

ISU continued to push throughout the next events earning a first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, another first place finish and time of 50.20 in the 100 yard medley relay and a first place finish in the 400 IM relay.

The Sycamores looking to continue this momentum entering their final home meet vs. Wittenberg, Wabash and Depauw as they continue to prepare themselves for the Missouri Valley Conference meet in February.

In conjunction with this meet the Sycamores will honor their lone senior, diver Laura Fulton.

Fulton is the first official diver in Sycamore swimming and diving program history.

This season Fulton has set and broken her own records in nearly every meet. She currently holds the school records in both the one meter dive with a score of 211.5 and in the three meter dive with a 206.9.

Fulton has not only been a standout athletically for the Sycamores, but academically as well. She has qualified for the dean’s list 7 times throughout her collegiate career along with maintaining a 3.86 grade point average while majoring in dietetics.
