Indiana University Will Swim Texas, Florida Season-Opening Triangular

Indiana University has released their 2016-2017 Swimming & Diving schedules. They will begin the season on October 21st-22nd with a triangular meet against the Texas Longhorns and Florida Gators in Bloomington. This meet will showcase Joseph Schooling, Caeleb Dressel, Townley Haas, Jack Conger,  Blake Pieroni, and Lilly King, all gold medalists at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Afterwards, the Hoosiers will travel to Lexington for a quad-meet, which will include the Kentucky Wildcats, the Tennessee Volunteers, and North Carolina Tar Heels. Next the Hoosiers have a pair of dual meets at home: on November 5th against Big Ten rival Michigan State Spartans, and November 11th against the Cincinnati Bearcats.

The Hoosiers will send participants to the first-ever Big Ten All-Stars vs. U.S. National Team meet, which will take place on November 12th and 13th at IUPUI. The Hoosiers will send a squad to U.S. Nationals in Atlanta for their next competition,  from November 30th-December 3rd. The Hoosiers will also be hosting the Hoosierland Invitational meet simultaneously, from December 1st-December 3rd.

The Indiana Diving squad will then travel to Columbus, Ohio, for USA Diving Winter Nationals from December 14th-18th.

The Hoosiers will return to their dual meet schedule on January 14th, taking on the Michigan Wolverines in Bloomington. This will be the Hoosier’s mid-season test against their Big-10 rivals.

Afterwards, they will travel to West Lafayette on January 21st to swim the Purdue Boilermakers. They will wrap up their dual meet season with a meet against the Louisville Cardinals in Bloomington, on January 27th. Afterwards, the Hoosiers first chance meet- from February 18th-19th- is sandwiched between the Women’s Big Ten Championships (February 15th-18th) and the Men’s Big Ten Championships (February 22nd-25th). The teams will finish off the collegiate season with the NCAA championships (Women’s from March 15th-18th, Men’s from March 22nd-25th). The teams will also participate in the Speedo Sectional meet in Indianapolis from March 29th to April 2nd.

The Hoosiers will carry massive momentum with them from the Rio Olympics into the NCAA season. Blake Pieroni, a junior for the Hoosiers, won a gold medal as a prelims swimmer on the 800-meter freestyle relay. Lilly King, a sophomore for the Hoosiers, won two gold medals in the 100 meter breaststroke and the 200-meter medley relay.
