Indiana Women’s Water Polo Makes Season Debut At Wolverine Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 16 Indiana is set to open its 26th season this weekend when it travels to the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor on January 27-28.

NOTES

  • Indiana Water Polo opens up its 26th season this weekend as it travels to the Wolverine Invitational. It is coming off a 2023 season where it finished fifth in the MPSF and recorded its most wins since 2018.
  • Highlighting IU’s returners are graduate student utility Zoe Crouch (41 goals, 18 assists) and junior center Sophie Sollie (38 goals).
  • It will be a new look in goal for the Hoosiers this season as sophomore Jasmine Higgs is set to replace All-American Mary Askew in the net.
  • IU also brings back high-volume scorers in junior attacker Skylar Kidd (27 goals), sophomore attacker Grace Klinger (27 goals), sophomore attacker Louisa Downes and senior defender Kallie White (24 goals).
  • Leading up the Hoosiers’ defense from last season will be senior defender Sophie Wazzan, who led the team in steals (20).
  • Taylor McInerney is in her fifth year at the helm of the program and returns both assistants from last season including associate head coach Candyce Schroeder (third season) and Max Taylor (second season).
  • The Hoosiers will begin the season on the road in consecutive weekends before hosting the Indiana Classic on Feb. 17-18 at Counsilman-Billinglsey Aquatic Center.

UP NEXT
The Hoosiers will travel to the Bruno Classic Feb. 3-4 where it will play games against Harvard and Marist on Saturday in Cambridge, Mass. and Ponoma-Pitzer and Brown in action in Providence, Rhode Island on Sunday.
