FRESNO, Calif. – Two goals each by senior Izzy Mandema and freshman Portia Sassier paced No. 17 Indiana in a 12-6 loss against No. 13 Long Beach State to close out action at the Fresno State Invite.
KEY MOMENTS
- The Hoosiers came out on a sprint won by senior Tina Doherty and freshman Skylar Kidd took the feed from junior Zoe Crouch to strike first. LBSU followed by two-straight goals before Mandema netted her only goal of the day with 1:39 remaining in the first. It would be a 4-2 deficit for the Hoosiers, who were outscored in the second, 5-1, and trailed 9-3 at the break.
- The two teams went goal-for-goal in the second half, each putting in one in the third and two in the fourth but it wouldn’t be enough for IU to overcome its early deficit.
