Swimmer of the Week

Blake Pieroni, Indiana

Sr. – Valparaiso, Ind. – Chesterton

  • Placed first in six events and set top times in the nation in the 100 freestyle (43.18), 200 freestyle (1:34.10), 400 free relay (2:54.62) and 400 medley relay (3:11.19)
  • Recorded an NCAA B Standard qualifying time in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle in Indiana’s dual meet against No. 2 Texas
  • Earns his seventh career Swimmer of the Week honor and the first of the season
  • Last Indiana Swimmer of the Week: Blake Pieroni (Feb. 1, 2017)

Diver of the Week

Steele Johnson, Purdue

Jr. – Carmel, Ind. – Laurel Springs

  • Swept the diving events against No. 16 South Carolina and posted the top individual springboard scores in the nation this season in both the 1- and 3-meter events
  • Recorded NCAA zone qualifying marks in the 1- and 3-meter events scoring 455.03 and 480.53, respectfully
  • Earns his fourteenth Diver of the Week award and the second of the season
  • Last Purdue Diver of the Week: Steele Johnson (Oct. 18, 2017)

Freshman of the Week

Ricardo Vargas, Michigan

Cuernavaca, Mexico. – Tecnológico de Monterrey

  • Won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a pool record (8:58.22), took third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:24.08) and took fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.72)
  • Recorded an NCAA B Standard time in the 500-yard freestyle
  • Earns his first Freshman of the Week award
  • Last Michigan Freshman of the Week: Ross Todd (Oct. 4, 2017)

• Earned six first place finishes against No. 9 Louisville
• Won the 200-yard freestyle with an NCAA A Standard qualifying time (1:44.58) and won the 100-yard freestyle with an NCAA B Standard time (48.23)
• Earns her sixth career Swimmer of the Week and the third of the season
• Last Michigan Swimmer of the Week: Siobhan Haughey (Oct. 18, 2017)

Co-Diver of the Week 
Jessica Parratto, Indiana 
Jr. – Dover, N.H.
• Placed first in the 1-meter event and second in the 3-meter event in Indiana’s meet against No. 18 Florida
• Scored NCAA zone qualifying scores in both events in the first meet of the season, posting 302.85 on the 1-meter and 332.85 on the 3-meter
• Earns her third career Diver of the Week award and the first of the season
• Last Indiana Diver of the Week: Taylor Pamplin (Nov. 16, 2016)

Co-Diver of the Week 
Olivia Rosendahl, Northwestern 
Jr. – Los Angeles, Calif. – Immaculate Heart
• Placed first on the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter event in Northwestern’s meet against No. 4 Georgia and Georgia Tech
• Posted NCAA zone qualifying scores for both events in both meets, scoring as high as 300.30 on the 1-meter and 318.68 on the 3-meter
• Earns her fourth career Diver of the Week award and the first of the season
• Last Northwestern Diver of the Week: Olivia Rosendahl (Jan. 25, 2017)
