International Swimmer Neal Gives Commitment to D-III Drew University

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Harrison Neal will be traveling a long way from home this Fall as the high school senior from New Zealand has committed to Drew University of the D-III Landmark Conference. Neal will be the third international swimmer in the Drew men’s program joining Matheus Macena of Brazil and Ben Garratt of England.

Neal is completing his senior season at Wellington College (New Zealand) where he earned the position of co-captain of the school’s first New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships in five years. He currently swims for the Capital Swim Club in Wellington.

“To all my friends and family, I would like to announce my commitment to Drew University. I am so excited I wish August was next week. Working with my new swim coaches and the admissions team I have enabled me to make the hardest decision easy, I thank you all. To my parents, thank you for all the help and guidance, I will make you proud. Go Rangers.”

Neal should make an immediate with the Rangers program as a butterfly-freestyle specialist. Taking into account conversion factors from meters into yards, his 200 butterfly would have scored in the consolation finals of the 2019 Landmark Conference Championship last month in Germantown, Maryland.

Best Times (SCM):

  • 200 Freestyle: 1:57.43
  • 400 Freestyle: 4:12.09
  • 100 Butterfly: 1:01.44
  • 200 Butterfly: 2:12.29
  • 200 IM: 2:12.76

His 200 butterfly, converted, would have earned the third best spot for Drew during the 2018-19 campaign. His middle-distance freestyle serves complimentary as his 200- and 400-meter freestyle conversions would have, also, earned consolation finals (assuming he made the conversion).
