Ames, Iowa’s Amy Feddersen has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Missouri’s class of 2023. Feddersen swims for Ames High School and Ames Cyclone Aquatic Club.

Feddersen became the first girl in Iowa history to break the 50-second barrier in the 100 free when she won the state title in her junior season last November at the 2017 IGHSAU State Swimming and Diving Championships. After getting touched out by .08 in the 50 free final (she was runner-up with 23.01), Feddersen went 49.54 to break the Iowa state mark by .74. She also led off the Ames second-place 200 free relay and anchored the 400 free relay (49.18) to a state record by nearly 4 seconds, helping the Little Cyclones win the state title by the largest margin in their history.
In club swimming Feddersen focuses mainly on the 50/100/200 free and 100/200 back. Those are the events she has swum at the last three Winter Junior Nationals in a row. Last December she placed 12th in the 100 free and 19th in the 200 free. She won the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 100 back, and was runner-up in the 200 back at the Iowa Swimming Short Course Championships in February. That meet produced her lifetime bests in the 50 free, 200 free, and 100 back.
