Iowa State Complete South Dakota Road Trip With Another Win

On the road at their second stop in South Dakota, the women from Iowa State defeated the University of South Dakota, 180-117. The meeting this afternoon was short course meters, versus the traditional short course yards format we see in the NCAA season.

Some notable races of the meet included Iowa State in the 100 backstroke. At the finish Iowa State had the win with Bre Loeschke beating out Coyotes’ Tayler Kirtley, 1:07.18 to 1:07.90. They would later sweep 1-2-3 in the 100 freestyle, with Amanda Paulson leading the pack at 58.13.

Marissa Engel had almost a ten second victory in the 200 backstroke (2:19.88). Same with Imelda Wistey in the 200 breaststroke, 2:40.95. After a win in the 200 earlier, Iowa State’s Karyl Clarete had a 16+ second victory in the 400 freestyle over South Dakota’s second place finisher. Her final time was 4:24.95.

South Dakota had individual wins from Cassie Kimmes in the 800 freestyle in 9:33.86. They would also win both diving events contested today.
