IRSC Transfer Barbara Caraballo Will Score Immediately For FGCU Eagles

Florida Gulf Coast University has picked up another commitment for the 2015-2016 season from Indian River State College’s Barbara Caraballo. Caraballo made her decision to join the Eagles, after her Indian River diving teammate Ashley Wright, made her verbal commitment to FGCU as well this fall.

At last year’s National Junior College Championships, Caraballo won 3 individual national championships in the 200 IM, the 400 IM, and the 200 Fly, while also being apart of 4 more national championship winning relays in the 200 and 400 free relays and the 200 and 400 medley relays. Her times in her individual events were:

200 IM= 2:01.69
400 IM= 4:18.65
200 Fly= 2:03.73

Those times would’ve had her finishing 2nd in the 200 IM, 1st in the 400 IM, and 7th in the 200 Fly at last year’s CCSA Championship meet. Caraballo’s experience on relays will also give the Eagles a boost for their 200 and 400 free and medley relays, where the Eagles will be losing senior and NCAA All-American Emma Svensson. Needless to say, Caraballo’s presence will be felt immediately within the conference, and possibly at NCAA’s.
