These two wins were good for the 99th and 100th ISU career dual meet wins for head coach Duane Sorenson. Coach Sorenson is in this 19th season as head coach for ISU and is hot off a 2nd place finish at the Big 12 Conference Championships last season (the program’s highest finish at the meet). While part of the Big 12, Sorenson has been named Co-Swim Coach of the Meet and Swim Coach of the Meet at Big 12’s in 2001 an 2015, respectively. In his 18 seasons at ISU, Sorenson has a record of 97-79-1.

Last night, ISU was off to a strong start, winning both of the first  two events of the evening, with the team of Guy Shilon, Kasey Roberts, Kaylee Kucera  and Maddie Rastall  taking the 200 Medley Relay.  Sophomore Mary Kate Luddy won the 1000 free in a time of 10:25.99. Luddy, who is the school record holder in the 200 fly, also swept both butterfly races (57.21; 2:04.39) giving her three individual wins on the day. Dan Diego’s Sam Schuttinger and Alexandra Robertson of TCU  traded wins with close finishes in the 100 and 200 free. Schuttinger was on top in the 200 (1:53.57 to 1:53.68) to give her team its first and only win of the day, and Robertson took the 100 (53.06 to 53.12).

Robertson would go on to also win the 200 IM (2:05.97). Marissa Engel swept the backstrokes for ISU (57.40, 2:03.34) and took third to TCU freshmen Robertson and Devin Newton in the 200 IM. Yet another double event winner for the Cyclones was Kasey Roberts who won both the 100 and 200 breast (1:04.38, 2:19.51). Roberts is the reigning school record holder in both the 200 breast and 200 IM for the Cyclones.

Additional stand out swims for TCU included a first place finish in the 400 free with a team of Bryn Lohrberg, Micaela Roemer, Mikayla Winkler  and Robertson (3:33.78) and a first place finish for freshman  Victoria Barczyk in the 500 free (5:08.32)
