Italy Announces 2024 Olympic Swimming Roster

The Italian Swimming Federation has formalised the national team that will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The swimming events will take place at the La Defense Arena from 27 July to 4 August.

The Italian team is made up of veterans and rookies. Gregorio Paltrinieri, Sara Franceschi, and Margherita Panziera are the most experienced members of the team. Paltrineri has competed in four Olympic Games: London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 (1) and Paris 2024. Sara Franceschi and Margherita Panziera are in their third Olympic participation.

There are many freshmen, demonstrating the generational change and the strong rise of the age group categories to elite level. The youngest member of the team is Carlos D’Ambrosio, just 16 years old.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Italian swimming won seven medals: five silver and two bronze. Five of those were individual medals and two were relay medals

This tied them for the fourth-most total medals, though with none of them being gold they ranked 14th in the traditional gold-silver-bronze sort.

In the first qualifier that Italy did, it did not manage to finish among the top 4, which is why it may not appear. However, he will be part of the relay in the Olympic final for sure.

And only 100 back was surprising, he’s looked good in a bunch of events the last few years

What are the entries based on? Federnuoto hasn’t release them yet and those written here are not correct IMO, for example Ceccon has declared he will be competing in 200 back too

Such a great competitor who easily should be on that roster, at least for relays. She can be such an enigma.

Italian trials more or less overlapped with NCAA championships. Then she chose to forgo Settecolli, her last window, to focus on her studies. Too bad, but her choice.

Does anyone have predictions on if consideration times will make it in?
