Jack Alexy Breaks U.S. Open Record In 100 Free, Becomes #8 Performer All-Time

2024 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS

In the preliminary heats of the men’s 100 freestyle at the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials, Jack Alexy clocked a time of 47.08 to take the top overall seed. Not only does he break the U.S. Open record, which was a time of 47.39 shared by both Ryan Held (2019 U.S. Nationals) and Caeleb Dressel (2021 U.S. Olympic trials), but he also ties Australia’s Kyle Chalmers to become the eighth faster performer of all-time in the event. In addition, Alexy is just 0.12 seconds away from Dressel’s American record time of 46.96.

Alexy improved 0.23 seconds from his previous best time of 47.31, which he clocked to take silver behind Chalmers at the 2023 World Championships.

JAlexy knows how to peak at the right time.

Not during college season, not during NCAA finals, not during Nationals.

But at the trials and Olympics/Worlds.

So interesting betting tidbit for any degenerates. FanDuel had odds up for the Men’s and Women’s 100 Free Gold @ Paris.

Alexy did have odds of +1800.

Within a couple of hours of the prelims swim they have completely disabled betting on the Men’s 100 Free but not Women’s 100 Free.

Jack Alexy put the fear of God in Vegas.

This is how Michael Andrew envisions himself

Somewhere Andrew is crying in his beer.

First it was Ryan Murphy. Now it’s Jack Alexy. The Cal Bears reign supreme.

the Cal Bears medley relay wins olympic gold. Murphy, Bell, Rose and Alexy. Murphy can go 52.0, Bell could split 58 very high, Rose could split 49 and Alexy could split 46. That’s a gold medal squad

47.0 and he completely shut it down the last 4 strokes. Will be must-watch TV tonight.

LOL. It was an *incredible* swim, but he definitely didn’t “shut it down” in the final few meters.

Popovici was 47.8 in semis at Euros just now. Solid but way off his 2022 form and Alexy’s time here.

He just cooked a 47.8 prelims race and he has a history of getting faster as the heats progress.
