Jeremy Kipp Hires Former Swimmer Hawthorne As New Assistant at Boise

New Boise State head coach Jeremy Kipp has hired his former USC Trojans swimmer Meghan Hawthorne as his assistant coach at the women’s-only program at Boise State.

Hawthorne swam to multiple All-America titles at USC from 2011-2014 when Kipp was the program’s top assistant coach, and qualified for the NCAA Championships all four seasons.

Hawthorne twice earned first-team All-America honors in the 200 IM (7th as a sophomore, 8th as a junior) to go with three individual honorable mention All-America honors (400 IM as a sophomore or junior and 200 IM as a senior). She also earned a spot on the USA Swimming National Team in the 2013 season where she earned silver in the 400 IM at the World university Games

Other international experience includes as a part of 2013’s winning Duel in the Pool team for team USA, where she was 5th in the 200 IM and 400 IM.

Hawthorne’s highest Olympic Trials placing came in 2012 when she was 6th in the 400 IM – seven seconds shy of making the team.

Her coaching resume includes stints with the Rattler Swim Club (whom she also represented in club competition) since 2009 and as the assistant for the Viewpoint School in Calabasas, California.

Kipp was hired earlier this summer to replace Kristin Hill, who resigned after coaching the team through the first 9 years of its history including four conference championships.
