Job Description
J Swim Club is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, hardworking, and collaborative coach to join our coaching staff. This coach will manage and lead their own group or groups and will be responsible for coaching and developing swimmers aged 8-14. A strong candidate will be open-minded and be a great role-model to young athletes while inspiring them to be the best they can be. The position also includes opportunity to work with senior age groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, plan and execute high-quality programming for improving swimmers’ technique and fitness levels.
- Teach and train proper stroke technique to swimmers from developmental to intermediate levels.
- Assist in coaching other training groups where needed.
- Attend meetings and collaborate with other coaches to ensure consistency in philosophy, training and race strategies.
- Attend swim meets and provide coaching and critical feedback to swimmers.
- Communicate professionally with swimmers, parents, and other coaches through multiple channels.
- Comply with all safety and risk management policies and procedures of the Valley of the Sun JCC and J Swim Club.
- Remain current with the latest coaching certifications and requirements.
- Participate in workshops, seminars and training to enhance professional growth.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience coaching age group swimmers.
- Competitive swimming experience at the club or collegiate level.
- Passionate, enthusiastic and fun coaching style that engages young athletes.
- Proficiency with TeamUnify as well as Office suite programs.
- Social media and marketing experience preferred but not required.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or related field preferred but not required.
- Current in USA Swimming required certifications: CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Athlete Protection, Concussion Protocol Training, Background check, Coaches Advantage Training, Foundations of Coaching, MAAPP 2.0 and/or the ability to obtain required certifications.
Physical Requirements
The job requires the coach to stand for extended periods and be able to move quickly around the pool area. The coach will mainly be working outdoors and will be exposed to varying temperatures. The coach may be required to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends to accommodate swim practice and swim meets.
