Job Summary

Gulliver Preparatory School’s Aquatics Department is currently seeking An Assistant Aquatics Director/Long-Term Athlete Development Coach to join our team of professionals.  The qualified applicant should be dynamic, reliable and trustworthy with excellent communication and organizational skills.  This position is critical to nurturing the pathway for swimmers progressing from the Swim School through the Swim Club program.

 

This multifaceted role involves assisting the Director of Aquatics and Aquatics staff in the daily operations, management and logistics of the Gulliver Prep Aquatic facility and equipment room, as well as setting up and running aquatic events.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Aquatics Director and Aquatics staff in the daily operations, management and logistics of the Gulliver Prep Aquatic facility and equipment room.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director to develop and implement the swim club’s long-term athlete development model and curriculum.
  • Plan and conduct 2-4 hours per day of on-deck coaching.
  • Work with all groups of the club program to ensure a seamless progression from Swim School through each group of the club program.
  • Coordinate, plan and implement aquatics events assigned by the Aquatics Director and attend all scheduled aquatics events, meeting and team functions as required.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, school staff, coaches and community stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director
  • Work daily to promote the Gulliver Aquatics program and enhance its visibility on both campuses and within the broader community.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum three (3) years successful experience as a swim coach with collegiate or USA Swimming age group program or equivalent.
  • CPR/AED Certification, First Aid Certification, Coaches Safety and Safe Sport Certifications.
  • Membership in good standing with USA Swimming.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate swimmers and colleagues.
  • Organized, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or USA Swimming age-group level, with a proven track record of success in developing student-athletes.
  • Skilled in teaching the fundamentals of swimming with an understanding of the long-term athlete development model.
  • Dedication to individual development and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture amongst swimmers and coaches.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents and stakeholders to achieve program goals and vision.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Swim Coach with a USA Swimming Team.
  • Prior experience teaching swimming lessons.
  • Aquatics Facility Operation Certification is a plus!

 

 

Pre-Employment Requirements

Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening(s), and Drug screen.
