The Graduate Assistant Swim Coach will assist the Head Swim Coach in all aspects of the swim program, with a focus on athlete development, training, and team management. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience and mentorship for individuals pursuing a career in coaching at the collegiate level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Practice Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with the Head Swim Coach to plan and organize daily practice sessions.
- Lead drills, provide technique feedback, and facilitate skill development among athletes.
- Ensure adherence to training schedules and safety protocols during practices.
- Athlete Development:
- Work closely with individual swimmers to assess strengths and areas for improvement.
- Provide personalized feedback and guidance to help athletes achieve their performance goals.
- Assist in developing training plans tailored to each athlete’s needs and abilities.
- Meet Preparation and Support:
- Assist in planning and preparation for swim meets, including travel arrangements and logistics.
- Provide on-site support during meets, including warm-up routines, race strategy, and mental preparation.
- Analyze meet results and provide feedback to athletes to enhance performance.
- Team Administration:
- Assist in managing team logistics, including equipment inventory, uniform distribution, and facility scheduling.
- Help coordinate team meetings, events, and community outreach activities.
- Maintain accurate records of athlete attendance, performance data, and other relevant information.
- Recruitment Support:
- Assist in identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes to join the swim program.
- Attend recruiting events, communicate with prospective athletes, and provide information about the program and institution.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in coach education workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in swimming and coaching.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (in a related field preferred).
- Previous competitive swimming experience at the collegiate level.
- Strong understanding of swimming techniques, training principles, and meet strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
- CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications (preferred).
- Enrollment in a graduate program at Campbell University (required).
- Master’s in Business Administration (preferred)
- Masters in Public Health (preferred)
- Masters of Science in Applied Leadership (US citizens only)
Schedule:
- This position typically requires evening and weekend availability, with occasional travel for meets and events.
Compensation:
- Graduate tuition waiver or assistance, along with a stipend, will be provided to the successful candidate.
