Position Title: Head Coach, St. Croix Dolphins Swim Team.

Location: St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands

Reports To: Program Director

Position Type: Full-Time

Base Salary: $50,000 + Bonus

About Us:
Established in 1972, the St. Croix Dolphins Swim Team boasts a proud legacy of representing the island in competitive swimming. Our year-round program caters to swimmers aged 5-18, ranging from novices to national-level athletes. We are committed to fostering a supportive and challenging environment that promotes personal growth, teamwork, and excellence in the sport.

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Coach to lead our swim team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of competitive swimming, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for developing swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching and Athlete Development:
• Lead and oversee training for all age groups, ensuring a comprehensive season plan in collaboration with the Age Group Swim Coach and Program Director.
• Provide technical instruction, stroke development, and implement age-appropriate dryland training programs.
• Conduct regular goal-setting meetings with swimmers and parents, offering continuous feedback and fostering a culture of personal and athletic growth.

Team Management:
• Supervise and mentor assistant coaches, promoting professional development and ensuring consistent coaching methodologies.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with swimmers, parents, and staff, articulating expectations, practice schedules, and team goals.
• Organize and oversee participation in local and remote swim meets, ensuring all logistical aspects are managed efficiently.

Program Development:
• Develop and implement a cohesive team strategy, mission, and vision that encompasses all facets of the program, including Learn-to-Swim, outreach, public relations, and fundraising initiatives.
• Assist with team registration processes and strategize to increase team membership and community engagement.
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors to prepare meet schedules, contribute to annual budget development, and support fundraising activities.

Facility and Operations Management:
• Supervise pool maintenance and ensure adherence to safety protocols, including hurricane preparedness plans.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pool facility, team room, and office spaces.
• Coordinate with local schools and community organizations to promote swimming programs and facilitate facility usage.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of coaching experience; Level 3 coaching certification preferred.
• Current member in good standing with USA Swimming, with all certifications up to date.
• Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills, with a strong sense of personal integrity.
• Extensive knowledge of competitive swimming techniques, stroke mechanics, and USA Swimming rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to cultivate a culture of team unity among swimmers, parents, and staff.
