Primary Responsibilities:
Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics, based out of the Holland Aquatic Center, in Holland,
Michigan is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Diving Coach to lead our diving
program. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching athletes of all levels,
from beginners to national-level competitors, in the art and technique of diving.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive diving program that caters to athletes of varying
skill levels, from novice to elite.
2. Plan and conduct engaging and effective training sessions that focus on skill development,
technique refinement, strength conditioning, and mental preparation.
3. Provide personalized instruction and feedback to athletes to help them achieve their
individual goals and maximize their potential.
4. Foster a positive and supportive training environment that promotes teamwork,
sportsmanship, and personal growth.
5. Collaborate with other coaches and staff members to coordinate practice schedules, meet
logistics, and team events.
6. Monitor and assess athletes’ progress regularly, adjusting training plans as needed to
ensure continual improvement and peak performance.
7. Prepare athletes for competitions at local, regional, and national levels, including overseeing
meet entries, warm-up routines, and competition strategies.
8. Serve as a mentor and role model for athletes, instilling values of discipline, dedication, and
resilience both in and out of the pool.
9. Maintain open and effective communication with athletes, parents, and program
administrators regarding training schedules, performance expectations, and program
updates.
10. Stay informed about current trends, techniques, and developments in the sport of diving
through ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
Head Dive Coach
Essential Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience in competitive diving, with a proven track record of success at
various levels of competition.
Certification from a recognized diving coaching organization, such as USA Diving or
equivalent, preferred.
Strong knowledge of diving fundamentals, techniques, and training methodologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire
athletes of all ages and abilities.
Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage training schedules, meet
logistics, and administrative tasks.
Commitment to upholding the values of integrity, sportsmanship, and respect within the
diving program and the broader aquatics community.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate training
sessions and competition schedules.
Valid lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon
hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible head coaching experience in an age-
group dive coaching program, organization, club, or equivalent.
Detailed knowledge of diving techniques and rules, including tower and platform diving.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Certifications: Valid diving coach certification (USA Swimming).
CPR and First Aid Certification.

Endurance: Prolonged periods standing and moving on the pool deck. Stamina is necessary
to maintain focus during training sessions and competitions.
Demonstrations: demonstrate dives to illustrate proper form and technique. This involves
physical exertion and precise execution.
Spotting and Catching: During practice, coaches assist divers by spotting their movements
and ensuring safe landings. This requires agility and strength.

Variable Work Hours: May work more than 40 hours a week for several months during the
competitive season. Work schedules vary and may involve irregular hours, including
evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
